Rice- One of the Indian Super foods

Rice for health -
In Rice is nice blog, I have written about the properties of different rice. All the rice has fibre, protein, carbohydrates. The only difference is in the proportion of the biological components. White rice is ancient and highly consumed worldwide. It provides energy, easy digestion and support and strength to our mental health. It is local to most of us and easily available yet avoided by many of us.
Rice and the secret component-
You have observed, When stomach related problems occur, the first thing comes to our mind is "We can eat rice". Why can't we continue eating a particular amount of Rice every day? Rice is not bad but our Eating habit. Eating in a higher amount or a lower amount of food is not good for our health. Rice provides one of the essential amino acids i.e. lysine. There are 9 essential amino acids. These amino acids cannot produce inside our body. That type of amino acids can get from foods and healthy drinks. Amino acids are the building block of protein. Have you ever thought! When you talk about protein for your health, what actually a protein is? Gaining proteins mean we are getting long amino acid chains. Those amino acids have different properties alone and different properties in a chain with other amino acids.
Let's come back to lysine in rice.
Is lysine important for our body?
Lysine is very limited in foods. It is available in cereal grains, legumes, red meat, dairy products, fish and brewer's yeast. This essential amino acid is low in vegetables. Research studies show that having lysine in diet can prevent you from stress, anxiety and helps in maintaining blood pressure. It prevents from forming plaque (accumulation of substances) inside blood vessels.

Above are some examples of doubt on rice. There are many doubts. I just write here some of the doubts. Close observation on our life, we always doubt on local foods and we don't even think when we eat western foods. We think, eating western foods once in a week or month are fine and we just eat. Now talk about the above topics-
1. White Rice V/S Brown Rice
Ans - The simplest answer is whatever is local to you. Both are good. Just don't eat in a higher quantity.
2. Why everyone comparing other Rice with White Rice!
Ans - White rice is cheaper than other types of rice. That's why everyone is comparing with white rice only. Stop that and start comparing with your salty-sweet biscuits. All rice is good. If you want to know the properties then you can read my previous blog on Rice is nice. All rice has their unique properties and they are unique to their locality.
3. Is eating white rice good for health?
Ans - Yes, it is good for healthy people. People having diabetes is not recommended to eat white rice. If they want to eat they can eat in a smaller amount.
4. Is leaving rice good for health?
Ans- According to me, it is not good. As I stated above about the essential amino acid lysine. If you are a vegan then you should eat rice. If you eat non-vegetarian foods then it is completely your choice.
I have read some information that leaving rice is also completely fine for some people.
5. Is rice good for obese people?
Ans- Yes, A food helping you to stress-free is obviously good food. Right! Most of the obese people face stress in their life.
6. Is rice good for diabetic patients?
Ans- Maximum research observations tell that eating rice after diabetes is increasing the risk more.
7. Can weight loss happen by eating rice?
Ans- Yes, it all depends on your physical activity habit and mindset. You have to understand first-
How and why weight gain happens! in simple words-
a. First, you eat an excessive amount of glucose source food. Some glucose utilises in your body and some remain. That remaining glucose converts into glycogen.
b.This glycogen acts as a saviour. It can be utilised when there is a requirement of glucose. That will happen when all glucose utilise inside our body and we are not taking glucose source foods such as in the cases of starvation, exercise, dancing and all.
c. If that glycogen does not convert to glucose and does not utilise inside our body then that leads to fat cell formation.
d. Fat cells are very stubborn to move and do any function.
In this way weight gain happens.
8. Glycemic Index of Rice is high, which is bad.
Ans- Glycemic Index (GI) is the carbohydrate quantity in food. This is true that the GI of Rice is higher than other foods but in a meal, you are eating other vegetables with that. So, the total Glycemic Index of a meal decreases.
9. High carbohydrate content in rice is not good!
Ans- Carbohydrate is needed for our body. Carbohydrates are a source of glucose. It all depends on you to utilise those carbohydrates through physical activities.
10. Should I avoid eating rice at night?
Ans- Nutritionists and dietitians recommendation is to eat rice at night. So that it can easily digest and good for your stomach. According to me, if you have a habit to eat rice in more quantity then less the amount of Rice at night or do not it rice rather you can eat roti.
Change your eating habit rather replacing local foods.
